Resumen

La siguiente investigación aborda la arquitectura desde el análisis de un objetivo en particular: la preservación del patrimonio que representan los edificios antiguos. Su restauración mediante materiales y tecnologías actuales sin que pierdan su valor e identidad, teniendo en cuenta las necesidades que exige la nueva funcionalidad. Se exponen ejemplos con los que se buscan demostrar que es posible preservar el patrimonio histórico mientras se promueve el progreso y desarrollo de las ciudades. Se pretende establecer el equilibrio entre aquello que puede y debe mantenerse y aquello que debe ser introducido a fin de conseguir un bien mayor, teniendo una visión clara de que elementos son excepcionales por su valor histórico y merecen ser conservados. El trabajo es una investigación del tipo descriptiva, se expone un listado de los edificios rehabilitados y refuncionalizados, analizando sus características como, los aportes modernos en estructuras antiguas y su impacto en la conservación del patrimonio histórico. Esta investigación también abarca ejemplos de intervenciones a nivel nacional e internacional, destacando cómo estas prácticas han logrado integrar elementos contemporáneos sin comprometer la identidad y el valor histórico de las edificaciones. Las conclusiones dejan claro que la conservación de estos edificios puede contribuir a mantener la identidad cultural de una comunidad, permitiendo que las edificaciones históricas sigan siendo relevantes y útiles en el contexto actual.

Abstract

The following research approaches architecture from the analysis of a particular objective: the preservation of the heritage represented by old buildings. Its restoration using current materials and technologies without losing its value and identity, taking into account the needs demanded by the new functionality. Examples are presented to demonstrate that it is possible to preserve historical heritage while promoting the progress and development of cities. The aim is to establish the balance between what can and should be maintained and what should be introduced in order to achieve a greater good, having a clear vision of which elements are exceptional for their historical value and deserve to be preserved. The work is a descriptive type of research, a list of rehabilitated and refunctionalized buildings is presented, analyzing their characteristics, such as modern contributions in old structures and their impact on the conservation of historical heritage. This research also covers examples of national and international interventions, highlighting how these practices have managed to integrate contemporary elements without compromising the identity and historical value of the buildings. The conclusions make it clear that the conservation of these buildings can contribute to maintaining the cultural identity of a community, allowing historic buildings to remain relevant and useful in the context to which they belong.
