Abstract

Objective: To determine the association between a chronic kidney disease prevention program and patients’ quality of life in a hospital in La Libertad, Peru, 2024. Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental correlational study including 140 participants enrolled in the KDPP II program. Two validated Likert-type questionnaires were used (Cronbach’s α: 0.83–0.97). Descriptive statistics and ordinal logistic regression were performed using SPSS version 27. Results: 83.6% of participants showed a high level in the prevention program and 67.9% reported high quality of life. Ordinal regression revealed a significant association (p < 0.001), explaining 49.3% of variability (Nagelkerke R² = 0.493). The evaluation dimension showed the highest explanatory power (R² = 0.363). Stronger associations were observed for mental health (R² = 0.535) and physical health (R² = 0.464) than for self-perceived health (R² = 0.218). Conclusions: KDPP II was significantly associated with improved quality of life, particularly in physical and mental health. Strengthening educational, monitoring, and culturally sensitive communication strategies is recommended.
